Chaired Professorships

Current Contributions - $6,413,301

The School of Industrial Engineering and Management at Oklahoma State University developed an ambitious strategic plan. One of the goals in the strategic plan was to increase the school endowment to $20 million by 2020 and to make IEM a named and endowed school. Below you will find the updates towards that goal. Thank you to all of our generous donors!

In this update, we highlight a past gift from Don and Cathey Humphreys. Their gift of $500,000 and a match by T. Boone Pickens has helped establish the Donald and Cathey Humphreys Chair in Industrial Engineering and Management.

The chair in IEM is held by Dr. Guiping Hu, Regents Professor and Head. In addition, the Humphreys have provided over $8 million for the Chair in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology (held by Dr. Paul Tikalsky) and six Chairs in International Studies.

Wilson Bentley Chair

Wilson Bentley

We highlight a past gift from several alumni in creating an Industrial Engineering and Management (IEM) professorship honoring former IEM School head Dr. Wilson Bentley. Bentley served OSU's engineering college for more than 23 years from 1957-1971, 14 of those years as head of the School of industrial engineering and management. Supporters credit him with influencing a generation of engineers and helping them develop their potential as pioneers of industry throughout the country.

"Professor Wilson Bentley had a dramatic and profound effect on the careers of many of the students he mentored," said Karl N. Reid, former Dean of the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology.  "His career advice for many was priceless.  He left an indelible impact on the field of Industrial Engineering & Management as well.  He and professor H. G. Thuesen were pioneers in the development of graduate and research programs in engineering at OSU." The Bentley Chair is currently held by Dr. Baski Balasundaram, Professor in IEM.
