DuPont, Laura Raiman
Laura Raiman DuPont is integrating her industrial engineering expertise with her passion for quality, excellence, and education to improve and advance public education in Texas. She currently serves as the Vice President of the Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees. Not only is she an advocate for 42,000 students in CCISD, but her work supports the education systems for over 5 million students across the state of Texas. She serves as a champion for understanding systems and processes in order to develop Community-Based Accountability Systems and advance local public school accountability. She uses her knowledge of data systems, statistical analysis, and quality improvement to identify relevant data and use it appropriately, establishing accountability at all levels of the education system for the achievement of all students.
Laura graduated with her MSIE from Oklahoma State in 1986 and her PhD in 1991. She was an Assistant Professor for three years at Pennsylvania State University in State College, PA. She played a key role in developing the structure for implementing CQI at Penn State, and also began an 8-year role as an Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. She was an author and technical editor of national feedback reports and co-authored several case studies, helping hundreds of organizations use the Criteria for internal assessment and design of quality systems.
Laura remains dedicated to her engineering background, implementing quality systems in every environment she operates.Through her school board service, as a board member on the local chamber of commerce, and her active participation in student and community groups, she is a strong advocate for public education and data-based decision making. She continues to demonstrate her support for the arts and sciences by supporting interest and student participation in STEM careers, robotics programs, and band, orchestra and choir programs.She strongly supports activities, programs, and educators that promote exploration, collaboration, innovation, creativity, and self-direction.
Laura has been married to Chris DuPont for 25 years, a graduate of Electrical Engineering at OSU. They are proud parents of three boys, who are all integrating their musical performance talents with an engineering mindset in order to pursue futures that will change the world.
