Goertz, Jack

A native of Oklahoma, Jack graduated from OSU with a BSIE in December, 1972 and an MSIE in May, 1974. Upon graduation, Jack moved to Birmingham, AL, to begin working as an engineer with the Southern Company. His entire professional career was with the Southern Company, retiring as a Senior Analyst in 2001. 

Jack is a registered professional engineer in AL. He is a senior member of ISE (retired).

In 1984, Jack founded Tandems, Ltd (bicycle shop) with his wife. Since retiring from Southern Co, Jack has dedicated his time to making Tandems, Ltd, one of the premier tandem bicycle shops in the world.

 In 2015, Jack was invited to serve on the Industrial Engineering Advisory Board at OSU. Jack was inducted into the OSU Cowboy Academy in 2016 as part of the inaugural class. He is a member of the TCA Board of Directors. In 2017, Jack was inducted into the CEAT Hall of Fame.

Besides working to help keep OSU’s IEM as one of the top schools in the nation, Jack is also a fan of collegiate gymnastics. Other interests include touring the world by motorcycle or by tandem bicycle.
